Grassroots Exchange & Education

In order to further enhance the global partnership between US and Japan, CGP fosters US-Japan grassroots exchange in various ways, including region to region, civil society, and youth exchange programs. CGP also promotes understanding of Japanese culture and society in the United States, focusing on K-12 education and community outreach.

    Supports teacher training, curriculum development and community outreach efforts addressing the needs of K-12 students, teachers and the larger community

  • Grassroots Exchange Discretionary Grants

    Aims to create new networks and strengthen existing networks between nonprofit organizations and citizens groups in the US and Japan around common social issues

  • Japan America Society (JAS) Initiative

    Deadline Passed

    Supports networking and capacity building among Japan America Societies (JAS) in the US to encourage sustained growth and innovation

  • Japan Outreach Initiative (JOI) Program

    Promotes US-Japan exchange activities and fosters a grassroots understanding about Japan by dispatching Japanese individuals to volunteer in communities in the US

  • J-Initiative

    Supports major organizations to establish national and/or regional networks, capacity building, and innovative program development for US-Japan exchange and outreach

  • J-Initiative: J-Support, Great East Japan Earthquake Recovery

    Deadline Passed

    Contributes to the March 2011 Japanese earthquake disaster recovery efforts through various networks including civil society, education, youth, cultural, business, NPO/NGO, philanthropic, sister city, and other types of grassroots exchange between the US and Japan.
