Program Detail

Co-organized with the Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE), and the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL), this program takes a long-term approach to strengthening the foundation for US-Japan relations by facilitating exchange between future political leaders from the United States and Japan.  In this annual program, representatives from each country are exposed to the politics and policy-making process of the other country during a two week study program.

Delegations from the U.S., with equal representation from the Democratic and Republican parties, have included state and local elected officials, federal and state officials, party officers, and Congressional staff.  Delegations from Japan have included prefectural and local officials, assistants to Diet members, and policy staff from the governing and opposition parties.  During the two week study program, participants meet with senior government officials, representatives from political parties, community leaders, and business executives.
