Denver Art Museum. Denver, CO  
Japanese Art on Creativity Resource 
Project Director: Chiara Robinson

The objectives of the project are to add eight art objects from the Japanese permanent collection to the Creativity Resource website, including accompanying lesson plans, object information, and high-quality images; engage schools in three Colorado districts that include Japan in their cultural studies curriculum with development of the online resources; and conduct a teacher workshop for up to 200 teachers from the three districts.

Friends of Middleton Public Library. Middleton, WI  
Middleton Community Origami Mural Project

1) This art project meets both the mission of the Friends of Middleton Public Library and Middleton Public Library (MPL). 2) The "promotion of global awareness" is one objective in MPL's long-range plans with a focus on Japan . 3) As a community building event, all ages and all backgrounds are welcome to become artists and will share a fun-filled, education. It is a "good neighbor" experience in creating a permanent art piece they can see and be proud of for many years. 4) It is a way to provide free and creative opportunities that will pique the curiosity of its users and address their informational and recreational needs. MPL is willing to host any group that wishes to continue learning origami.

Share the World in NY

Share the World in NY provides an opportunity to know, learn, and experience Japanese culture through interaction with other collaborators. For some students, it will be their first time to learn how to sing in Japanese and to experience other aspects of Japanese culture, especially on the day of their performance, as there will be many activities and entertainment showcases.

Japan Festival of Saginaw

Our Festival is educational throughout in that each performance teaches viewers a new aspect of traditional Japanese culture. Also, our shodo, children's games, origami and ikebana demonstrations are interactive learning designs. Each tea ceremony opens with a lecture on the 400 year history of the Urasenke school. We will have a straightforward didactic feature in the form of an organizational tent with digital presentations and an oral history of the construction of our tea house.
 
Orchestra Insonica. New York, NY  
Introducing Japanese Film Composers and Anime Music in Performance

This project is Insonica's second educational concert with The Masters School Orchestra. As a conductor, it has always been here in my mind to introduce Japanese film music, much of which is already known to many people in the States. This project has two goals: one is to introduce live orchestral music to a variety of members of the community. The other is to introduce Japanese culture through playing Japanese film composers' highly acclaimed works.

Samurai and Kimonos: Japanese Culture

The Museum of Anthropology will offer three one-week sessions of its summer camp, Samurai and Kimonos: Japanese Culture.  The camp program will expose children to the historical and modern culture of Japan . We will use lessons, demonstrations, music, food, arts, and activities to teach children about a culture with a long history.
